Are you getting ready to take your practical driving test? Getting prepared in advance will help you reduce any nerves on the big day. If, for whatever reason you have lost your Theory Test pass certificate don’t worry, this is more common than you might think. Don’t panic, you won’t have to retake your theory test.

What to do when you’ve lost your theory test certificate

If you have lost your certificate and are taking your test, you do not need to get a replacement theory test certificate to take to your test. Your driving examiner will check that you’ve passed your theory test before the car driving test starts.

If you would like to book a practical test you may be asked for your theory test certificate number, if you don’t have this you can contact the DVSA. You will need to give them your full name as it appears on your driving licence, your UK driving licence number, and your date of birth.  You can contact the DVSA by email or telephone, they are available Monday-Friday from 8am to 4pm. Once you have provided details, they will send you a letter that will include your theory test certificate number that you can use to book your driving test and prove you have passed.

If you are worried or have any problems please talk to your driving instructor, they will have experienced this before and will be able to provide advice and support.
