These Terms and Conditions apply to driving lessons and gift vouchers purchased or booked through Geoff Capes Driving School. By booking lessons or purchasing a gift voucher, you agree to the following terms.

1. Booking and Payment

  • All driving lessons must be paid for in advance.
  • Payment must be received before your lesson takes place.
  • Lesson bookings are subject to instructor availability.
  • Any block bookings or prepaid lessons must be used in accordance with the terms agreed at the time of purchase.

2. Lesson Cancellations and Changes

We understand that plans sometimes change. However, we ask that you give us as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or rearrange a lesson.

  • A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel or rearrange a driving lesson.
  • If less than 48 hours’ notice is given, the full lesson fee may be charged and any prepaid lesson may be forfeited.
  • If you fail to attend a booked lesson without notifying your instructor, the full lesson fee will be charged.
  • Where at least 48 hours’ notice is provided, any payment made will be retained as credit towards a rearranged lesson or refunded where applicable.

3. Instructor Cancellations

Occasionally, lessons may need to be rearranged due to instructor illness, vehicle problems, adverse weather or other circumstances beyond our control.

If Geoff Capes Driving School or your instructor needs to cancel a lesson, we will endeavour to give you as much notice as possible and arrange a suitable alternative date.

Any prepaid lesson cancelled by us will be rearranged at no additional charge or refunded if a suitable alternative cannot be agreed.

4. Learner Responsibilities

To take driving lessons, you must:

  • Hold a valid UK provisional or full driving licence appropriate for the vehicle.
  • Meet the legal eyesight requirements for driving.
  • Inform your instructor of any medical condition or change in circumstances that may affect your ability to drive safely.
  • Attend lessons on time and be fit to drive, including being free from the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Our instructors reserve the right to refuse or terminate a lesson if they believe it would be unsafe or unlawful to continue. Where this is due to the learner’s actions or circumstances, the lesson fee may be forfeited.

5. Driving Tests

  • Learners are responsible for ensuring they meet the requirements for taking their practical driving test.
  • The use of an instructor’s vehicle for a driving test is subject to the instructor’s agreement and assessment of the learner’s readiness.
  • We reserve the right to decline the use of a tuition vehicle for a practical test if the instructor considers the learner insufficiently prepared or there are safety concerns.
  • Geoff Capes Driving School cannot be held responsible for driving tests cancelled or postponed by the DVSA.

6. Gift Voucher Terms and Conditions

Geoff Capes Driving School gift vouchers are available for driving lessons and may be purchased for a chosen monetary value.

The following conditions apply to all gift vouchers:

Validity

  • Gift vouchers are valid for 6 months from the date of purchase.
  • The expiry date will be shown on the voucher.
  • All lessons paid for using the voucher must be taken before the expiry date.
  • Any unused value remaining after the expiry date will be forfeited and will not be refunded.

Named Recipient

  • Gift vouchers are valid only for the person named on the voucher.
  • Vouchers are non-transferable and cannot be sold, exchanged or passed to another person.

Redemption

  • Gift vouchers can only be redeemed against driving lessons provided by Geoff Capes Driving School.
  • Lessons are subject to instructor availability and coverage within our operating areas.
  • Lessons must be booked in advance.
  • If the cost of lessons exceeds the voucher value, the recipient must pay the difference in advance.
  • Any remaining voucher balance may be used towards further lessons within the original validity period.

Ordering and Payment

  • Gift vouchers can be requested through our website or by contacting Geoff Capes Driving School directly.
  • Once we receive your request, a member of our team will contact you to confirm the voucher details, recipient’s name, value and availability of driving lessons in the recipient’s area.
  • Payment is required in full before a gift voucher is issued.
  • Payment will normally be made by bank transfer, with payment details provided directly by our team.
  • Gift vouchers will be issued once payment has been received and confirmed.
  • The six-month validity period begins on the date of purchase, which will be confirmed on the voucher.
  • Submitting a voucher request form does not constitute a confirmed purchase.

Cancellation of Gift Voucher Purchases

Where gift vouchers are purchased following an enquiry made online or by telephone, customers may have a statutory 14-day cancellation right, depending on how the purchase is concluded.

Where this right applies, customers may cancel within 14 days of purchase and receive a refund, subject to any lawful deductions for lessons already provided at their express request.

After any applicable statutory cancellation period, gift vouchers are non-refundable except where required by law.

Refunds and Cash Alternatives

  • Gift vouchers have no cash alternative and cannot be exchanged for cash.
  • Gift vouchers are non-refundable except where required by law.
  • No refund or credit will be given for any unused voucher balance after the expiry date.

Cancellations

  • The standard 48-hour lesson cancellation policy also applies to lessons booked using gift vouchers.
  • Where less than 48 hours’ notice is given, the value of the cancelled lesson may be deducted from the voucher balance.
  • Rearranging a lesson does not extend the voucher’s original expiry date.

7. Refunds and Prepaid Lessons

Any requests for refunds of prepaid driving lessons will be considered in accordance with applicable consumer rights and the terms agreed at the time of booking.

Where a refund is due, any lessons already taken will be deducted from the amount paid, taking account of any applicable block-booking terms.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions affects your statutory consumer rights.

8. Changes to These Terms

Geoff Capes Driving School reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The terms applicable at the time of booking or purchase will apply unless otherwise agreed.
